road trip: part 1

for the long labor day weekend michael and i decided to go back and visit richmond.  neither of us had been back since leaving in 2006.  richmond is such a neat city but we really didn't realize it while we were there - lots to do and so much history.  we stayed in clemson friday night.  clemson reminds us so much of a smaller auburn.  like auburn was back in the day.  we love it.

we hit the road early on saturday and stopped in charlotte for lunch.  we didn't have iphones back in the day when we were traveling - so it made the trip so much easier - we just pulled up the trip advisor app and it suggested bad daddy's burger bar.  so off we went.  it was a great little restaurant in a neat part of charlotte.  being game day, we were surrounded by south carolina and east carolina fans.  and we were able to watch some of the au game {either it could be a long season or utah state is really underrated}.

we finally made it to richmond late that afternoon.  we checked into the jefferson and checked out the hotel.  absolutely gorgeous and very grand.

then it was off to see our old stomping grounds.  first stop:  my old apartment.  i loved the location of it - right in the fan district and could walk to so many fun places.

we got jackson while in richmond and there was a dog park right across the street.  so sad to now see this sign....

then we went to legend brewing co. for a drink...

we then headed to carytown {my favorite part of town} for margaritas at nacho mamas.  then on to strawberry street cafe for dinner.  it was a full day and we called it a night pretty early.
